Cyber Essentials is a UK government-backed certification scheme that sets out five basic security controls every business should have in place. It was designed to protect organisations against the most common cyber threats, and it is increasingly required by customers, public sector procurement teams, and supply chain managers as a condition of doing business.
Holding Cyber Essentials certification tells your customers and suppliers that your business meets a recognised baseline standard for security. For many businesses, it is the difference between getting through the first round of a tender and being ruled out before the conversation starts.
Cyber Essentials Plus goes a step further. Where standard Cyber Essentials involves a self-assessment, Plus includes an independent technical audit of your systems. It carries more weight in competitive situations and is increasingly expected by larger organisations and public sector bodies.
